Hayat Bayat explores the inner world of a young man growing up in a socially marginalized environment, caught between a sense of confinement and the feeling of having no clear way forward. The film moves between observational, atmospheric imagery and expressionistic symbols that visualize his emotional state.

Shot on 16mm and self-developed, the film uses grain, contrast, light and imperfection to create an intimate, fragmented visual language. Realistic images and expressionistic elements blur the line between external reality and internal experience.
